Business Networking Meeting Update – 19 Nov 09

The 10-mins Showcase was presented by Khine Khine and after that, she received several interested referrals from many of our guests. Well done!

Summary of education minutes

Life is like coffee. The cup does not make the coffee any better. And yet we all run after the best looking / most expensive cup. The cup, of course, is the metaphor for worldly possessions that don’t matter in the grand scheme of things – huge house, flashy cars, famous friends, jewelry, the works! What matters is the coffee i.e. the happiness and satisfaction of the soul; the ability to give, to help and to be good; the love of people in your life for who you are, not what you own.

Summary of education minutes

Affirmation has a strong direct influence on what our experiences (what we call “reality”).
The 2 simple yet powerful affirmations for prosperity are:
“My income is constantly increasing” and “I prosper wherever I turn”

Best 60 Seconds: Ariff

Show Case:  Presented by Brendan Yong (BNI Ambassador to Crescendo)

Main Points:
Grow or Die – if we are not growing, we will eventually stagnant, move backwards, and die.
Give or Die – BNI is about giving. We have to be willing to give to keep it moving forward. Without the action of giving, there is no meaning in our organization.

3 Tips for Effective Business Collaborations

  1. Collaborate with partners serving in a complementary industry or who share the same market as you.
  2. If your partner gives more to you than you can give to him, consider giving a referral fee to balance out the giving.
  3. If you are in a marketing or related business which can help the other partner expand their business, consider exchanging your services for a share of the profits from the collaboration.
